The following information is general in nature. There may be exceptions
to each.
1. Do I need my Air Tank inspected? Yes, provided it is five cubic feet in volume.
2. Do boilers located in apartment buildings require inspection? Yes if the input BTU capacity is 200,000 BTU'S or greater and located in a building of three units or greater.
3. Who is qualified to do boiler and pressure vessel inspections in New Hampshire? Inspectors holding a National Board Commission and employed by a Jurisdiction or an Insurance Company writing this type of insurance in New Hampshire.

4. What is the difference between a high and low pressure boiler? Low pressure boiler operates at a pressure of 15 PSI or lower. High pressure boiler operates at a pressure greater than 15 PSI.
5. What should I do when I received an overdue boiler or pressure vessel notice? Call your insurance inspector or the Department of Labor.
6. State boiler and pressure vessel certificates have been received with the wrong numbers. Contact your inspector.
7. My boiler or pressure vessel leaks. Can I have it repaired? Yes. If welding is required, it shall be done by a contractor holding an 'R' stamp.

8. What if my boiler inspector has found code violations? The violations must be corrected prior to the unit being placed in service. RSA 157-A:9-A
9. Is the state of New Hampshire the only state requiring boiler and pressure vessel inspections? No. Presently 48 or 50 states mandate these inspections.
10. Do hot water heaters have to be inspected? Yes, if they have an input BTU capacity of 200,000 per hour.

12. What if I need a boiler or pressure vessel extension? A letter shall be submitted prior to the expiration date.

13. Do I need to have my certificate posted? Yes.

14. How much will it cost to have the state inspect my boiler?
15. Do I have to have my wheelchair lift inspected? In accordance with RSA 157-B
16. When do I have my elevator inspected? RSA 157-B
17. Who inspects the elevators and accessibility lifts in New Hampshire? Only a licensed Elevator Inspector may perform inspections in the state. An elevator license may only be issued through the Department of Labor.
18. If my elevator breaks down, can I hire anyone to repair it? Only a licensed elevator mechanic may work in elevators in New Hampshire. An elevator mechanics license may only be issued through the Department of Labor.
19. How do I get an Inspection Certificate? After the licensed inspector has performed his inspection and completed his report and receipt of the invoice, the Inspection Certificate will be mailed.
20. What do I do with the Inspection Certificate once I receive it? The Inspection Certificate must be posted in the elevator in full view of passengers.
21. What happens if my elevator fails the inspection? The inspector will give you a report of the code violations. The department of Labor will send you a letter with your invoice explaining what necessary repairs needs to take place before receiving an Inspection Certificate stating the time frame you have to make the repairs before the elevator would be put out of service.
