The NH Department of Labor monitors employers who hire youth under the
age of 18 for compliance with NH Youth Employment Laws
(RSA 276-A Youth Employment)
Injuries to minors, which occur while at work, are monitored to assure that the injury did not result from a minor working in an occupation, which is considered hazardous by law and prohibited. Students, who are participating in school-sponsored programs, which is exposing the student to the work environment, are also being afforded certain protections. Such programs as School-To-work, Co-op Programs, Internships or Building Trades Programs are required to be registered and approved by the NH Department of Labor to assure a safe quality learning experience. The department also administers apprenticeship programs. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the NH Department of Labor at (603) 271-3176 or via our online Contact Form.
